Kyma Specialist 5.1

Currently based in both Los Angeles and Paris, French Sound Designer Sylvain Lasseur was nominated for a Cesar (French Oscar) for his critically acclaimed work on the French police thriller "36 Quai des Orfèvres" (36th Precinct), starring Gerard Depardieu & Daniel Auteuil.

As Sound Supervisor / Designer of “The Last Mistress”, he also accompanied Director Catherine Breillat when Cannes honored her period film...

Sylvain is a graduate of the Louis Lumière Cinema School in France.  He began his sound career as a boom operator for French television and feature films.   Soon thereafter, he made the natural leap into sound post production, with the sound supervision, sound design and sound editing of such charming animated television series as "Orson & Olivia" and “Mot”.
Bringing his versatility and unique style to an eclectic array of international projects, Sylvain went on to edit, design & supervise the sound of more than 35 feature films in French & English (and Macaque.... for the monkeys of “Hanuman”!)  He has collaborated with some of the world’s most acclaimed film directors including Constantin Costa Gavras, Alain Resnais, Albert Dupontel, Olivier Marchal, & Catherine Breillat...

One of the components of Sylvain’s intriguing style is his mastery of the Kyma: an intricate sound design machine seldom used by other sound designers.  He has spent numerous years developing 5.1 applications for the Kyma, specializing in the use of this remarkable tool to create sound for feature films in both Paris, France and Los Angeles.
